Our Northampton based client, a market leader within the IT Managed Services industry are currently seeking a 1st /2nd Line Support Engineer to join them both on site with a client based in central Northampton and as part of the busy helpdesk while also supporting customers on-site. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone with a passion for IT to join a growing, family run business.
This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone with a strong interested in the IT field and experience and knowledge of basic Microsoft technologies and a good understanding of networking including TCP/IP, DNS & DHCP.
This will be a part field-based role, working both on-site and on the helpdesk. Due to travel requirements a driving licence and access to a vehicle is preferred.
This role demands excellent technical skills with the ability to support, maintain and operate systems. You will work as part of a team but with the ability to take responsibility and accountability for independent work packages. There will be plenty of opportunities for you to get involved in projects and innovate whilst running all day-to-day support activities.
Provide 1st and 2nd Line IT support on a day-to-day basis
Ensure that calls are answered in a timely manner
Record all tickets on our Service Desk System with sufficient information
Ensuring that IT support requests & incidents are dealt with promptly & resolved within the agreed SLA
Support system changes and project work independent to day-to-day support activities
Out of hours installations
Ability to prioritise mission critical vs noncritical
Skills and Qualifications:
A successful candidate will have a wide scope of general IT infrastructure skills and experience in the pursuit of delivering a high standard of work to both the user communities and change projects.
Previous experience working with servers, networks or similar
Solid understanding of computers, networks and software & Security
Knowledge of relevant tools and applicable software programs.
Customer service mentality
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Experience using MS Office applications: Word, Excel, Outlook
Supporting multi-site clients.

Firewalls, ( Fortinet) Router & VPN Technologies

Salary of £26,000 – £28,000 per annum
40 hours – Monday-Friday
