Job Description

Venrec are pleased to be recruiting on behalf of our client due to their continued expansion for a 1st Line Support Technician to join their IT Support company based in Maidstone, Kent. Our client is an established firm which places an emphasis on creating a relaxed, friendly working environment. They work up to the latest server technology, modern firewalls and protection systems, and have worked on projects such as installing the latest servers (physical and virtual) migrating from older 2008 systems or starting a server based network from scratch.

The salary and benefits:

Up to £23,000 dependent on experience

Minimum 8 days per month Work from Home available

Permit for car park provided 

The hours of work are on a rotational shift ranging from 05:00-13:30, 08:30-17:00 and 09:00-17:30 

The role entails:

Providing 1st Line Service Desk support for incidents (problems/issues) or service requests related to hardware, software, network connectivity, etc. 

Communicating clearly to clients through the telephone or email in order to deal with their issues

Administration of group server and network infrastructure 

Ensuring that all technical and user documentation is always maintained and kept up to date and accurate 

Assisting with hardware and software purchases, including licensing and ISO standards 

Assisting with the Active Directory and Exchange mailbox creation 

Management and control of backups and secure storage 

VOIP and mobile phone support 

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Fault finding skills especially at network, printer and computer level 

Good understanding of Microsoft Windows 10, 8.1, 7 and XP

Experience with Exchange 2010/2013/2016/2019 and ideally Microsoft Office 365 

A good working knowledge of web applications, networks, protocols and emails (SMTP, POP3, and Exchange)

Experience with Microsoft Exchange management on 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016 and 2019

A good understanding of TCP/IP Networking and experience with DHCP, DNS and VPN

A good understanding of Firewalls and Switches and Routers 

Experience with Microsoft Active Directory 

Experience with Troubleshooting Printers and Copiers 

The ability to work well individually or as part of a team 

A good understanding of all handheld peripherals, e.g. IPad, IPhone, Android, etc. would be desirable 

A good understanding of MAC OSX OS is desirable
