The Opportunity

The role of Client Manager – Innovation involves being a representative of Roke and trusted advisor to our Clients with a broad technical understanding of communications and sensing in the CEMA domain. Reporting to the Head of Sales CEMA and working in collaboration with the Head of Engineering the duties of the role include broadening and deepening our client relationships, whilst in parallel actively maintaining and developing new lines of business and opportunities based upon our strategy and expertise.

Balancing the needs of the customer and the needs of the Business Unit (BU) provides a constant challenge, requiring firm leadership and high-levels of responsiveness to risks and opportunities as they arise.

Job Purpose & Key Responsibilities 

Proactive Business Development from customer requirements identification, capture and shaping through to order closure for research tasks
Pipeline management, with robust forecasting in support of business planning 
Bid sponsorship, strategy, direction and guidance
Campaign direction and management, including responsible usage of marketing resources, events, white papers, innovation and associated non-labour budget
Acting as the ‘voice of the customer’, working with the Project Manager, Bid Manager and Technical Lead
Actively manage Risks and Opportunities that impact or influence Roke, the BU or Campaign Area
Always fully comply with Roke’s policies and procedures 
Undertake such other reasonable duties, commensurate with the job holder’s experience and qualifications, as may be required for the smooth operation of the business 
Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
BEng/BSC and/or Masters Degree in an appropriate Engineering/ Computer science, Information systems or related subject

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Familiarity with UK  MoD procurement process and structure
Proven pedigree of customer engagement and delivery of successful sales in the CEMA or adjacent Land domain
Knowledge of UK Science and Technology organisations and structures, and how to align them to products and services.
Experience in developing User Acceptance Plans and creating User Requirements.
An ability to analyse problems, develop new solutions where no pre-existing solution fits and communicate well thought through resolution
Experience of delivering briefings, demonstrations and proposals to a diverse audience including students where English isn’t the first language.
Experience of working in, and managing, small agile teams and delivering complexity at pace and across a wide customer base.
Previous experience using CRM applications such as Salesforce.

Security Information 

Due to the nature of this position, we require you to be willing and eligible to achieve a minimum of SC. To qualify, you should be a British Citizen and have resided in the UK for the last 5 years for SC and 10 years for DV.
