Job Description

I am currently working with a global UK based company who are urgently seeking a Data Analyst on a contract basis – fully remote OUTSIDE IR35.

Purpose of the role:

The Data Analyst will lead on establishing the new Data Science, Analytics and Data capabilities within Finance to help the business better understand the drivers of Financial performance as well as model potential future outcomes.

This newly created role will work on both the design and development of these new capabilities alongside end users across the Financial Planning and Reporting team. Although positioned within the finance team it will work alongside the central Data Reporting & Insights team to ensure best practise is shared throughout the organisation.

The role will lead on implementing data visualisation through power BI for the first time within Finance therefore regular interaction with C-suite exec's will be required.

This role will be varied and challenging and so will require self-organisation and drive to bring skills and experience that will add value to the wider FP&R team.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain an understanding of current performance trends across the compay in order to ensure relevant insights are delivered to support key commercial challenges
Support the development of front-end applications to enable non-technical end-users across Finance to perform self-serve analytics tasks
Data modelling of financial results to support performance analysis/ benchmarking
Data visualisation and report building (create tools and data models to aid the visualisation and reporting of data)
Reduce the delivery time of key FP&R processes (monthly forecasting, monthly performance reporting)
Data modelling of financial results to support performance analysis/ benchmarking
Upskill the FP&R department with Power BI and Advanced Excel skillsSkills, Knowledge & Experience

Strong hands-on technical skills background (SQL & Python are preferred)
Advanced Excel and modelling capabilities
Expert experience with Power BI/ equivalent tool for dashboard production
Strong presentation skills, in particular the ability to interpret and summarise complex analytical findings for non-technical and senior executive audiences
Commercial focus and strong attention to detail with a zero-tolerance approach to analytical error
Experience with Financial and non-Financial data
Self starter, provative and confident building networks across the wider business (SAP BI Team, Regional Finance Business Partners)Key Competencies:
