Are you a DBA with Linux knowledge looking for a new challenge?

We are looking for a Linux based DBA Support Engineer with hands-on experience of supporting databases on Linux based Operating Systems and associated technologies. You will be providing 2nd and 3rd line support in a very dynamic business environment.

An experienced Database Administrator to sit within the Applications Portfolio team as a specialist in Databases On-Prem. You will be supporting existing solutions on Oracle, MySQL and MariaDb and others.

You will be encouraged to feed into processes to ensure the service offered is relevant and up to date whilst working on end to end projects from outlining business case stages through to implementation and contract management.

What you will be doing:
Ensure our data platforms are running with minimum downtime and optimal performance for the Oracle, MySQL and MSSQL workloads.

Patch and uplift databases as required to maintain vendor support, security and availability of the application.

Continual Service Improvement to enhance and recommend ways to improve applications for performance, security, and cost optimisation. e.g review the performance of queries and recommend changes for optimisation utilising your knowledge for design, implementation, performance tuning and capacity planning.

You'll be able to take ownership of projects and manage internal stakeholders as well as carrying out more BAU activities such as managing permissions, user authentications, backup and recovery and database tuning.What you will bring:
Linux and SQL skillsIt would be great if you had:
Automated Storage Management (ASM)/Backup and recovery using Oracle RMAN.

Location: Ideally Portsmouth could also be Salisbury based. Hybrid – 1-2 days on-site
Security Clearance Level: Must be eligible for Security Clearance

Salary: £40,000 to £52,000
