Leading Not-for-Profit organisation require a Database Developer to build and maintain their Data Layer on MS SQL Server and onward Business Intelligence reporting, supporting the business to get meaningful insights from customer and operational data, to improve services and quality of lives for people across the South West.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop, construct, test and maintain the Data layer and subsequent architecture making key data more accessible for Business Intelligence and Insight activity.
Oversee the development of the new data model and provide guidance on key data warehouse aspects within SQL Server including Indexing, Schemas, Functions, Stored procedures and Views.
Support the team with Business Intelligence development and play an integral role in strategic data projects, helping the organisation become more data driven.
Support the creation and maintenance of high quality Business Intelligence reports within PowerBI making data and insight accessible for all colleagues allowing for more informed decisions at all levels.
Develop documentation surrounding the Analytics Data layer within the 'Data HQ', ensuring that definitions are documented, and processes remain transparent.
Collaborate with colleagues across the business to recommend actionable improvements to both operations and customer experience based on the management information available.
Support more junior Performance and Insight colleagues with larger data projects providing technical support and guidance.
Be proactive and have autonomy to analyse data and reports to identify meaningful insight and present this intelligence to teams across the organisation to improve performance.
Explore the root cause for underlying performance trends, developing insights with an ambition to explore data science models in the future.
Develop strong working relationships with all teams to ensure that changes in strategic and operational needs are understood and can be supported with high quality business intelligence and analysis.
Take an active role in supporting the wider team where necessary to deliver team objectives and goals.

Key Skills / Experience:

Evidence demonstrable experience of analysing, manipulating and transforming data within SQL (+2 years).
Have experience of SSIS and SSRS, along with being able to create database objects including tables, views, stored procedures etc (+2 years).
Have experience of performing data warehouse tasks for large projects (database design, business analyses, collecting business requirements and translating into technical solution, ETL development)
Experience with the creation/modification of a Data Model
Good BI reporting skills, experience of designing and maintaining PowerBI models and reports is highly desirable
Have the ability to work with large volumes of structured and unstructured data, identifying intelligence and trends.
Evidence strong communication and presentation skills and have the ability to work independently with business managers delivering key data projectsProfile
