Job Description

DevOps Engineer | AWS, Linux, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform | Bristol | £65k

I have been working with this excellent SaaS company in central Bristol for a while and have seen them grow and evolve considerably over the past 5 years. Their innovative, multi-faceted platform has been a massive success and helps their clients achieve a good deal more, with a lot less.

One of the most interesting things about them is their approach to development. They take a measured approach, making sure every feature is thought out and finished to a high level. Nothing is rushed and their Developers are given the time and freedom that allows them to get it right first time. What results is an incredibly versatile and intuitive, one stop solution that drastically simplifies tasks and saves days of admin per week. Plus a very happy Engineering team!

Where do you fit in?

As part of this approach, they are putting ever increasing importance on DevOps, making sure the teams have the tools and infrastructure needed to work efficiently. They have a fantastic DevOps Team already and are looking to hire another similarly minded Engineer to join their ranks and support their ever growing development teams. I personally know all the Engineers in this team and you will be working with the best.

Day to day you might find yourself monitoring AWS and logging systems, writing Terraform, managing Kubernetes deployments and building CI/CD pipelines. You'll get the opportunity to have a big impact across the teams, helping developers debug production issues as well as getting involved in team discussions as to how to improve infrastructure and incorporate new tech.

Is this the role for you?

As you would expect, they are open to all kinds of technical background, as long as you have the drive and interest to fill in the gaps where needed. They have a huge focus on personal development and training so you'll be learning and growing every day.

To have the best possible start however, it would be good if you had:

AWS knowledge
Docker and Kubernetes
Terraform experience (although transferable skills in tools such as Cloudformation would also be ok)
Bash or Python scriptingThey have a hybrid setup, with the flexibility to work remotely for the majority of the week, although a day or so in the office a week allows the teams to sit down together and collaborate face to face. Therefore you will need to be a commutable distance to Bristol.

If you are a Engineer and have been looking for a step in in responsibility, this is an opportunity not to be missed. You'll be given the flexibility to work and learn how you want, and it's a great chance to work at a company that are really making a difference.
