Job Description
Role title: Software Engineering Manager
Location: Reigate / London – Hybrid 40%
Role Overview
This is a key strategic role within the delivery team to lead, build and deliver high quality business systems, services and applications to support initiatives, business as usual, continuous improvement and small change.
You will lead 2 teams of senior developers/testers, act as technical advocate to the product owner, scrum master and value stream stakeholders to champion and embed technical excellence, best practice, and continuous improvement within engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Support Head of Engineering in refining and embedding engineering roadmap within teams and in carrying out governance, risk and people management tasks.
Lead and mentor 2 teams of senior developers & testers within an agile environment.
Participating in team Agile ceremonies such as stand-ups, refinement, retrospectives, and planning.
Act as technical advocate to ensure solutions provide intended business value, are technically fit for purpose, and aligned to technical roadmaps.
To ensure CI/CD, test automation and technical standards are in place, to ensure teams operate within governance, infosec and risk requirements.
Responsible for taking the lead in engineering best practices, new methodologies, training, mentoring and recruitment across the engineering function.
To provide practice expertise and coaching within your teams.Key Skills:
· Excellent leadership, negotiating, influencing and conflict resolution skills.
· Strong knowledge of technical excellence practice and DevOps/CALMS methodologies
· Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present and communicate complex technical concepts to non- technical stakeholders.
· Excellent coaching and mentoring skills
· Experience of developing and deploying scalable highly available cloud applications
· Experience with IT development process and delivery lifecycles; testing practices; test automation tools; release strategy and configuration management; development tools, and applications across full project lifecycle.
· Experience in planning and successfully delivering cross-business change projects involving IT change within financial services sector within a formal governance and control framework covering all aspects of project delivery.
· Educated to degree level or equivalent experience qualification.
· Certified Scrum master or equivalent (desirable)
· ISEB/ISTQB Certified in Software testing (desirable)
