Job Description

Group IT Support Technician

Location: Grimsby

Salary: up to £25,000 per year depending on experience

Job Type: Permanent, Full Time

The Role:

There is an exciting new opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic Group IT Support Technician to join the dynamic team. An experienced Group IT Support Technician is needed to support the in-house IT Department, based in Grimsby. The role is permanent, 40 hours, Monday-Friday 8:00-5:00, with some flexibility required to work outside of these hours.

You can expect a salary up to £25,000 based on experience and are looking for someone with a strong IT helpdesk background with a strong knowledge of all IT systems and happy to travel to all sites as and when needed.


Your role will also involve ensuring that system security always remains at the highest level. You will gain experience on a wide range of systems, some of them unique to the motor industry.
Your role will be the first IT contact point for all users within the company and you will be required to support these users as a priority and log and manage calls via helpdesk system.
Monitoring systems and servers will also be an essential part of the role to ensure downtime is kept to a minimum. Interaction with end users as well as the suppliers will be essential.
A full driving license is essential and due to the nature of the job there will be a requirement at any time to visit the 11 locations across the UK.
The IT Team is small so you will be expected on numerous occasions to work alone.
Reporting to the Group IT Manager, the ideal candidate should be motivated and enthusiastic, perform in a clear and methodical manner, be a good problem solver and cope well under pressure.

The ideal candidate will be required to have:

1st and 2nd line support experience
Experience of using an IT Helpdesk system
Experience working in a Windows environment incorporating Windows 10 and Windows Server 2012 / 2016
Basic Active Directory administration
Basic TCP/IP Networking skills
Basic VOIP experience with telecommunications
Installation of PCs and other IT Equipment
Experience of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Office 365 administration
Being able to work as a team and a friendly a professional demeanour is essential.

Desirable but not essential:

Microsoft Exchange 2013 and associated email systems
Hands on installation of networking hardware with some DIY skills would be a big advantage
Any experience with basic web design
Any formal qualifications relating to IT – such as CompTIA or similar.


Day shift – Monday to Friday
There will be a future requirement for on-call Saturday work which will be discussed, and a retainer will be paid for this service.
