Job Description
Client is a family-based business with its roots in the North of Greater Manchester, trading for over 40 Years. It has seen tremendous growth over recent years, now operating from multiple sites, and has recently embarked upon a digital transformation journey to build a platform for the next phase of its success.
The client is now looking to recruit a Head of IT to lead a small team of technical experts through the digital transformation programme, service improvement, and the wider scope of improvement across the business. As the senior information technology leader reporting to the Operations Director, you will lead the company’s technology strategy, execution, and operations. This role may suit someone looking for their first appointment as Head of Department after coming from a larger organisation, as well as an established IT lead.
Job Summary
The Head of IT position will lead on delivering a robust, resilient, and reliable IT Infrastructure, reporting to the Operations Director, and working with stakeholders across the business at all levels.
Ensure good communication between all internal and external parties.
Oversee operations, management, and good practice.
Ensure business objectives are delivered by IT.
Ensure compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory frameworks.
Define IT Policies and Procedures for the business.
Control and develop operational budgeting.
Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Experience
At least 10 years in IT roles, most recently in a senior position (IT Manager/Head of IT)
Good education and a degree-level qualification or relevant experience
Procurement, negotiation, and partnerships
Planning and organisation
Management and leadership
Project and Programme Management
Experienced, or lead, a large-scale systems implementation
Software architecture, design and development, methodologies, and Systems Operations
Business systems, process, and organisation design
Cloud, Big Data, Data Warehousing, Systems Integration and Data Portals
Networks, PC/Mac, tablets, storage, messaging, fixed and mobile telephony.
Cyber Security, User Authentication and Administration, Data and Systems Protection
Responsibilities
Actively contribute to management discussions and business strategy, particularly in terms of process improvement opportunities enabled by technology.
Understand the business strategy, market, and IT.
Develop the IT strategy into a roadmap of budgeted and planned projects and initiatives.
Communicate vision, strategy, and roadmaps internally and externally as appropriate.
Ensure business systems are fit for purpose and able to deliver business objectives.
Ensure processes and business systems are integrated and provide comprehensive management information.
Ensure digital initiatives maximise commercial opportunities, deliver planned revenue, create long-term value.
Ensure all IT technical platforms are well managed and fit for purpose.
Manage external vendors, particularly key suppliers, to ensure SLAs are met or exceeded.
Technical Information
The business operates in a primarily Microsoft-based technology stack:
* Microsoft 365
* Microsoft Dynamics Business Central
* Azure Virtual Desktops
The role includes responsibility for legacy and in-house developed solutions which are being replaced as part of the digital transformation programme.
