Do you want to work in an automated robotics/AI engineering space that is fresh, crunchy and industry leading?

Can you deploy real time information and work in quick sprints on projects that make headline news using AI (that is not limited to 2021 data)?

We are looking for talented Infrastructure Engineers to join us in the Intelligent Automation Garage (IAG) to design, build, deploy, maintain and enhance cloud-based infrastructure solutions utilising a blend of the latest techniques and technologies such as automatic image generation (PACKER), event-driven architecture, microservice architecture, serverless computing, containerisation, robotic process automation, and infrastructure-as-code.

To date, DWP's IAG have developed and deployed over 60 individual and unique automations using over 600 robots and processing over 14m transactions – using a mix of technologies including Robotics Process Automation, Computer Vision, OCR, Natural Language Processing and Deep Learning.

We work closely with DWP business areas and stakeholders to design, build, deploy and run automations using our cloud platform and liquid infrastructure.

To help you really make a difference, you'll be using the best tools and equipment for the job.

We plan and track work in Jira, we document in Confluence, we communicate using Teams and Slack, we commit, build and deploy code with GitLab, we use best-in-class cloud services from Amazon Web Services (AWS), and we do it all on the latest MacBook Pro devices.

Working as part of an agile team, you'll collaborate with senior engineers to design, implement and maintain robust and resilient infrastructure services, solutions and products.

You'll provide specialist technical support and assistance to junior staff and users, and DWP Digital project teams.

You'll also be part of a wider Infrastructure Engineering community of practice, with all the support you need to grow your skills and career, in whatever way works best for you.

What skills/ tech stack are we looking for?

EC2 – Instances, Autoscaling groups, Lifecycle Policies / Lifecycle Hooks
CloudFormation / Terraform Infrastructure as Code – Advanced Level template scripting, knowledge of parameters, functions, references, mappings. Autoscaling and Non-Autoscaling templates, CFN-Init
VPC – Creating and managing VPCs, Subnets, Security Groups (Firewall rules), Network ACLS. VPC Peering, AWS Privatelink and VPC Endpoints, understanding of HA systems
Linux – OS – Basic knowledge of Amazon Linux 2, Bash – fundamental experience – Grep, Installing Packages, User Account Management.
Operating Systems – Advanced Knowledge of Windows Server 2008R2, 2012R2, 2016
HTTPS/Certificates/SSL/Mutual SSL – Understanding and experience of applying certificates, knowledge of modern encryption techniques
Live Service Management – Understanding of the importance of running a business critical production environment – ability to carefully follow change management process.
Understanding of SRE principals and standards.
Expertise of DevOps principals, good knowledge of incident management / change management
Knowledge of GIT – branching strategies, merging, push, pull requests etc
Experience of Continuous Integration + Deployment (CI/CD).
