Job Description

IT Field Engineer / IT Technical Support

Location: Midlands / Home based with travel throughout UK and possibly abroad

Salary: £33,120 + company vehicle

Part of how we ensure connectivity is our Field Engineers, who organise and carry out IT installations and services, ensuring our customers always have the access they need, when they need it.

Joining our team, you’ll support our clients at their offices / online to ensure that any technical problems are resolved in a timely manner. A confident communicator, you’ll work closely with the 2nd line support team and customer, identifying the issues and ensuring that you have the hardware required prior to attending the customer’s location.

What you’ll be doing:

Attending site-based project meetings (normally online, though sometimes in person)

*

Attending pre-scheduled clinics, around the UK as required, to provide IT support services and fix services

*

Assist with and prepare installation documentation, including risk assessments and updating records as appropriate,

*

Support sub-contracted installation teams during installation of cabling or specialist IT fit-out, as well as data networking and telecoms equipment

*

Carrying out testing and commissioning of equipment and services

*

Providing feedback to clients during the clinics, logging all work and ticketing as required.

Providing additional support to 2nd Line and IT Project Consultants when on site as required, both remotely and in person

Management and scheduling of your diary to ensure attendance on the right location at the right time, and with the right hardware or tools to complete the work.

Our ideal candidate will have experience of:

*

IT/ Networking/ Telecoms

*

Managing/liaising with suppliers

*

Managing conflicting priorities

*

Microsoft Excel / Word

*

IT experience in the following areas: Networking, Domain and Server, Office 365, hardware build / repair, Wifi and connectivity, phone systems

Along with being process oriented, you’ll have the ability to engage with colleagues and clients on IT issues at a networking and server / domain level.

You must have a willingness to work outside normal hours in order to complete tasks on time and be flexible to accommodate peaks in workload. Due to the nature of the role, you must hold a valid UK Passport and Driving licence and have the flexibility to work away from home for extended periods.

The role is Home based with travel throughout mainland UK and possibly abroad (with overnight stays as required). Home based for administrative element and IT Support when not on client sites (likely to be approx. 2 days per week)
