Job Description

An IT Network Engineer, 3rd Line Support, is required for a managed services team in the Halifax area. This role is a new position following continued success and growth of our client’s services to business. As Network Engineer you will be responsible for designing, installing and maintaining digital communication networks for a wide range of clients.

Working remotely and on-site you will ensure a great service of IT technical support, system installation, monitoring and maintenance. This varied role brings fresh challenges through projects, multi-sites and numerous clients who require wireless connections, development of communication networks and improvement to cyber-security.

Duties will include;

* Onsite and remote security audit and assurance activities on third party suppliers

* Provide Network and security SME advice, guidance and support, attending and leading change meetings

* Develop network solution designs to meet a diverse and complex range of clients

* Assist in design, implementation and integration to third party systems

* Troubleshooting, diagnostics and reporting, through to optimization.

* Internal communications and delegation of projects throughout the team

* Support disaster recovery and back-up, lead desktop and helpdesk support elements

* Technical stakeholder engagement with clients, peers and third part delivery partners

* Monitoring and awareness of client requirements, agreements and delivery

* Supporting and sharing on-call duties

We are looking for :

* Extensive experience a Network Engineer within design, installation and maintenance across premises and cloud-based technologies

* In depth knowledge of network security, best practices and technologies

* Great communication skills internally and externally to clients and third parties

* Extensive experience a Network Engineer within design, installation and maintenance across premises and cloud-based technologies

* Someone who strives for excellent service, operationally focused to ensure clients requirements are achieved

* LAN and WAN technologies and protocols knowledge

* MPLS, Routing (BGP, OSPF), VRF, SD-WAN and relevant connectivity knowledge.

* Ideally CISCO Switches and Routers IOS.

The role offers a great career path, working in a team of 5, this evolving team need someone who is a great team player. There is some flexibility with working hours as core hours are 8-5 Monday to Friday one week and 9-6pm the following week. There is an on call service that forms part of this role and it would be on rota system including 1 in 3 weekends if required between 10- 6 and during the week of 7-10pm to ensure excellent service for the end users.
