IT Operations & Cloud Engineer

Job Description

*

Monitor and maintain the performance, availability, and security of cloud-based application and services.

*

Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools to streamline deployment and management of IT infrastructure across a variety of virtualisation and cloud platforms.

*

Create and maintain technical documentation and procedures.

*

Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies.

*

Provide IT infrastructure technical support and assistance to internal teams.

Key Technical Skills/Requirements

*

3+ years of experience with Linux server environments.

*

Experience with automation, application deployment and infrastructure provisioning.

*

Creating and maintaining “Infrastructure As Code” using tools such as Puppet, Ansible, Salt or Terraform.

*

Experience with log aggregation tools such as ELK, Graylog or Splunk.

*

Strong understanding of virtualisation & cloud computing concepts, including virtualisation, networking, security, and storage.

*

Familiarity with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

*

Hands-on experience with a programming/scripting language such as Python or PowerShell.

Key Non-Technical Skills/Requirements

*

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise with both technical and non-technical staff.

*

Ability to complete complex tasks methodically, with an eye for detail.

*

Enthusiastic and passionate about IT.

*

Excellent organisation, task prioritisation and time management skills, with the ability to operate independently in a remote role.

Desirable

*

Experience with VMWare ESXi & vCenter environments

*

Experience with OpenStack or public cloud technologies

*

Experience with RedHat or binary compatible OS environments

*

Experience with Atlassian JIRA, Bamboo and Confluence

Conditions

*

Participate in an on-call roster.

*

Fully remote role with occasional travel to company locations if/when required.

*

Ability to work outside of regular business hours when required to support critical systems & infrastructure.

Initially, we foresee this role will be delivered remotely, with the potential to relocate in the longer term if you choose to.
