IT Senior Developer
Salary range £36,150 to £48,850 per annum (dependent upon experience)
39 days annual leave (including Bank Holiday and Company days) + weekly exercise and wellbeing hours + contributory pension
This is a dual based role at home and Lilleshall National Sports Centre, remote working will be considered as an option
We are the UK’s official governing body for gymnastics. We believe gymnastics has the power to amaze like no other sport and we strive to help every gymnast experience this, amazing themselves and others along the way. By working closely with our members and partners we aim to lead, support and inspire everyone in gymnastics to do amazing things.
Our IT team are looking for an IT Senior Developer to lead the IT Development Team leading on proactive and innovated web-based software development either directly through our in-house team or working closing with external partners.
The main responsibilities of the role are:
Manage the software development team in a collaborative and Agile environment; ensuring assigned tasks to all development team members are undertaken within clear time frames to ensure that sprints are completed on time and to agreed priorities
Embed Agile working practices and tools within the software development team and wider organisation, supporting both the team and the business with its adoption and running.
As the technical expert for software development, be a hands-on leader of the development programme; leading on designated projects, stepping in and providing expertise as required
Supporting the maintenance of existing software architecture to facilitate development projects and the testing and integration of new systems/software/third party software into current software architecture.
Managing the software deployment and release process, ensuing QA and automated testing has been completed.
Applying effective methodology, techniques and tools to programming and software development to support evolving design, development, use of the websites
Provide ongoing maintenance; building, configuring, testing, fixing and supporting BG systems
Focussing on user journey and available user experience data, correct issues with the look and feel of the website as well as maintain the site infrastructure.
Ensure that all backend and frontend code has accompanying unit tests where applicable.
Be responsible for the ‘definition of done’ and its adherence within the development team.

Applicants will need to demonstrate:
Current web site and web application development and expertise with several programming and database languages and technologies, such as Java, PHP, React, Node.js, MySQL (MySQL,SQLServer) and Git.
Good troubleshooting skills, able to quickly assess complex programming issues and design patterns.
Knowledge of MVC frameworks, Workflow, Version Control, and code repositories
Knowledge and experience of the DevOps workflow, Agile methodologies, SCRUM and Kanban
Knowledge of databases and SQL
Strong understanding of how the web works
Technical knowledge and experience of cloud systems SaaS, PaaS and IaaS
Good technical problem-solving skills.
Work under own initiative with an organised approach.
Organised and methodical, agile and flexible in your approach.
Dedication and focus to delivering projects
Experience with working with development Frameworks such as next.js or CodeIgnitor and Rest
