Job Description

IT Support Officer – Up to £44,000 per annum – Benefits include 33 days holiday, Pension, On site Parking, EAP scheme, Life Insurance – 37.5hrs (Mon to Fri) – Cwmbran, South Wales

We have a new vacancy for a IT Support Officer to join a global manufacturing company based in Cwmbran, South Wales. Due to a restructure of their IT team, this is a new role and the successful IT Support Officer will be responsible for all IT across their Cwmbran site. The role will report into the IT Manager (based in France), working closely with IT Support Officers based at other sites across the UK. As an IT support officer, you will install and configure computer systems, diagnose hardware and software faults and solve technical and application problems.

Duties of the IT Support Officer will include:

Business support and communication, organising end user and infrastructure support
Provide Technology support – responding to breakdowns, installing & configuring computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers and scanners
Interacting with Vendor hardware support contacts where appropriate and providing support for MAC, PC, Laptop, Tablet and Mobile Device users – including ensuring that hardware is returned to serviceability with minimal impact on operations
Be involved and responsible for Project Delivery – this will involve operating, maintaining and supporting the evolution of the existing infrastructure serving the main production system for the entire EMEA region. This will include back & front office, network and peripheral components.
Monitor system resources and manage the day to day performance of all hardware and software – this will include proving administrative support as required.

The successful candidate will have:

Advanced skills in deploying Microsoft technologies including complex AD configurations, GPOs, Windows Servers, RDP terminal servers and scripting
Operating and maintaining large and local scale network made of SDWAN, LAN, ISPs, VPNs, Switch and router configuration
Strong knowledge of administering Office 365 with multiple licenses
Ability to select, install, maintain and upgrade all hardware
Experience of virtual environments – ideally based on Hyper-V or VMWare
Multi-site Backups
Vendor management – including sourcing, negotiating and procurement
Maintain and trouble shoot hardware, software and printers
Previously worked in a similar role, within a manufacturing environment and have multi-site experience

In addition the successful IT Support Officer will be required to travel around the UK and Ireland and be involved with projects across the EMEA region, so must have a flexible approach to their working and hours and be prepared to travel at short notice. Ideally you will have a full UK driving licence.
