Job Description

Job Title: Lead Database Administrator

Contract: 6 Months+

Location: Hertfordshire

Rate: £750 per day inside ir35

DV Clearance is required for this role

I am working with one of the leading IT Systems Integrators within the UK defence and central government sector, looking to grow their secure infrastructure team for a newly won 9 year programme!

The Lead Database Administrator (LDA) will be responsible for the design, implementation, configuration, maintenance and performance of new, business critical SQL-based database services, being responsible for the end-to-end design, implementation, facilitating the availability and consistent performance of the core) applications

Be the main point of contact (PoC) for all MS SQL related matter
* Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product life-cycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems
* Provide input into the Event and Protective monitoring processes as relate to the Database Services work-stream
* Share technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members
* Independently analyse, solve and correct issues; performing problem resolution end-to-end; providing feedback using Client provided service management tools
Essential Skills Experience

Vocational/Diploma/Associate Degree (technical field) or relevant Microsoft certification (MCTS, MCITP and /or MVP Certified) or relevant demonstrable experience with a Minimum of 3 years' experience as a SQL DBA
* Expertise in multi-site Always-On High Availability Groups (HAG) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
* Expertise in database encryption techniques, such as but not limited to Transparent Data Encryption (TDE)
* Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Fail-Over clusters
* Experience with database backup, restores and recovery models
* Experience of creating and modifying Transact-SQL (TSQL) scripts
* A working Knowledge of PowerShell scripting
* Experience of SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
Desirable

Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server analysis Services (SSAS)
* Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
* Knowledge of PowerShell Desired State Configuration (DSC)
* Experience of Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM)
* Experience of Microsoft System Centre Operations Manager (SCOM)
