We are looking for a Lead Solution Architect to take on the challenge of solution design in our Health and Disability directorate, specifically on Personal Independence Payment (PIP).

PIP is there to support people with health conditions and disabilities, to help with everyday tasks and getting around.

DWP supports over 2 million people with disabilities and health conditions who apply for health-related benefits every year.

Our Health Transformation Programme is tasked with modernising this service, making it more efficient and cost effective, putting claimants at the heart of it.

We maintain and modernise services that will be used by nearly every person in the UK, at key moments in their lives.

Who you are & what you'll do:

You're a leader. You'll lead on architecture for our Health teams, using your extensive experience of architecture design and modelling techniques, patterns, tools and standards.

You know how to build relationships. You'll be able to work collaboratively with our engineering, policy and legal teams, as well as other Digital colleagues to implement your solutions.

You'll help reduce ongoing cost of DWP IT services, by driving resolution of technical debt.

We'll trust you to deliver product solutions and be accountable for product architecture, on services that really matter.

During project discovery and inception phases, you will push forward discussions with senior partners to create solution options and recommendations. We have a brilliant Architecture community, and you'll grow our capability by providing expert advice to other Solution Architecture.

That means influencing decision on technology choices for products, and shaping what good architecture looks like in DWP, across government and beyond.

Your essential skills:

Application, Micro-service, and API-led architecture design.
Event-based architecture design, patterns (including pub-sub and data streaming).
Public cloud technologies, design patterns, and best practice (e.g. Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
Presenting to technical governance forums.
Agile / DevOps delivery methodologies and practices.
