Job Description
LINUX ENGINEER – MIGRATION – CONTRACT – REMOTE
We are looking for Linux engineers to join our customer's Data Centre Exit team. As part of a small team within a large Data Centre Exit Programme, your role will be to work client-side to deliver migration support services and to make changes to Linux platforms hosting IT services critical to our Customer.
Remote working
Duration: 8 months + possible extension
Most of the project work is expected to be in normal hours, but you could also be offered to work out of hours.
Key responsibilities include –
* Backup and restore of system images and volumes,
* Stop start services,
* Removal and clean-up of tooling
* Map storage volumes to VMs and map VLANs to VMs
* Revert the service to the source location
* Quiesce the service in the source location
Your experience –
At least 5-10 years' experience of supporting (2nd to 3rd Line) Linux servers and platforms within large scale infrastructures (1000+ servers).
* Significant Linux Experience (SUSE, RHEL or OEL)
* UNIX scripting skills
* Good understanding of Storage, Networking & Cloud computing technologies
* Strong teamwork and interpersonal communication.
* Have proven problem solving abilities.
* Awareness of the ITIL Service Management framework and specifically incident and change management. Your knowledge/skills –
Proven Experience in an Implementation / support role at 2nd / 3rd line level
* Significant Linux Experience:
* RHEL Versions 6.x and 7.x
* OEL Version 7.x
* SUSE Versions 10.x, 11.x and 12.x
* UNIX scripting skills
