The Role:
As a Network Engineer you will be working within the Networks Team implementing new project work and supporting current infrastructure to ensure availability of services to clients across all networking technologies. Ensuring PCI DSS and Group security requirements are adhered to for existing and new infrastructure. Working within ITIL framework to ensure SLA's are met for faults and new service requests while also ensuring change controls meet our own internal, and ITIL, standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Smooth operation of company networks
Continually monitor network for performance in line with agreed SLAs
Focus on continual improvement of networks and overall IT effectiveness
Resolution of new and outstanding service requests and fault tickets
Ensure all changes meet with PCI DSS standards and our own internal standards and specification
Recommend improvements to current and new architecture to improve resiliency, efficiency and reduce cost of Network Infrastructure
Maintain and adhere to policies and procedures relating to networks.
Participate in the development of Network strategies in collaboration with the Network Manager
Test networks in relation to systems performance and provide regular performance statistics and reporting; develop strategies and roadmaps for maintaining network infrastructure
Practice IT asset management, including maintenance of component inventory and related documentation
Deputise for the Network Manager in their absence, if required.
Resolve problems speedily and permanently
Proactively monitor system to prevent failure
Identify single points of failure and recovery plans
Facilitate capacity and availability management processes and procedures across all network services
Key Skills:
Experience on CCNA
Cisco Switching and routing
Firewalls (any vendor)
Knowledge and understanding of load balancing technology
Strong customer service orientation
Substantial experience in Networking environment
Experience of working within a technical team and knowledge of processes and standards
Operate across multiple projects concurrently and assume the responsibility for the appropriate technical elements.
Substantial experience in a corporate environment in a similar technical role
Hands on experience of network troubleshooting
Knowledge of current network protocols and standards
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environmentCould this be you?
