NSWAN Network Engineer

Portsdown Technology Park is a Centre of Excellence in Maritime Mission Systems and works with occupiers across the Maritime, Technology, Security and Defence sectors, offering opportunities to work in this outstanding environment.

Job Specification:

Implements, and maintains various networks such as LAN, WAN in accordance with specified requirements. Prepares data network diagrams and drawings to document and assist in communicating current operational status of networks.
Maintains data network hardware and systems; investigates and resolves network and hardware matters of significance; researches, analyses, isolates and resolves errors; assesses and updates older networks as needed and in accordance with specified plans.
Performs data network configurations and configuration changes of various data equipment such as Routers or Switches.
Prepares routine proposal documentation and information to meet customer requirements.
Creating and implementing network security measures.
Experience in patch management including analysis and deployment.
Config and management of IPsec tunnels terminating on both Firewalls and Routers desirable.
Experience working with Cisco Catalyst switches, Cisco Nexus switches, Cisco ISR and ASR routers, and Cisco ISE.
Installs and maintains network facilities, including hardware, software, and system data for small to medium sized networks.
Taking care of escalated network support issues.
Investigating and resolving assigned incidents.
Actioning approved and designed changes.
Connecting with customers to provide progress reports on Incidents.

Person Specification

To be considered for this role you will have the following:

Desirable Skills

MOD security clearance or be content to undergo Security Clearance to SC level.
Must have a good understanding connectivity and routing protocols also with experience and understanding of the implementation, configuration and management of virtual and physical networking solutions. Focusing on Secure WAN/ LAN environments including security boundaries and rule sets.
Hands-on experience in designing, configuring, and troubleshooting Cisco and Mini – Catapan networks.
Excellent communication skills
Ability to act calmly under pressure
Thorough and demonstrable understanding of Cisco Enterprise of WAN / LAN environments, 3rd line support level including, deployment, administration and troubleshooting. Ideally to a CCNP Enterprise level qualification.

Rate – dependent on experience and interview
Base Location – MCSU, Portsdown Technology Park, Portsmouth
