Job Description
PURPOSE

Our client's team of engineers are brilliant problem solvers dedicated to protecting highly sensitive information worldwide. They tackle challenging cybersecurity issues to safeguard national security and critical infrastructure.
The Systems Engineering function provides expertise to all projects from bid to full development lifecycle, ensuring compliance with project and statutory requirements. It is responsible for improving the efficiency of the systems design function, system architecture and integration, design for cost, and manufacture. Professionals at this level apply their technical knowledge to multiple projects, with opportunities for technical leadership and line management of a team of 1-5 system engineers. This function operates within the Cyber UK Operational Business Unit, which delivers various research, development, and production programs ranging from tens of £k to several £m.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Create technical solutions and artefacts, following Systems Engineering processes, to meet customer requirements and ensure quality project outcomes.
* Offer technical guidance and collaborate with system, hardware, and software architects to achieve optimal project approaches, designs, and implementations.
* Lead and participate in project aspects such as planning, coordination, and presentation for internal and external design reviews, ensuring compliance with processes and objectives, and adherence to cost and schedule estimates.
* Manage customers, external suppliers, and information security, generate and review technical proposals, and provide clear explanations of technically complex concepts to drive project success and optimize costs and margins.
* The role will either have Line Management, Technical Management or Subject Matter Expert responsibilities.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
* Degree in engineering, math, or science-based subject or equivalent experience.
* Significant experience in Systems Engineering, including the V-Model, requirements development, compliant systems design, technical documentation, and as a technical SME, with advanced knowledge of relevant practices and methodologies.
* Experience of DOORS, UML, SEBoK, Enterprise Architect and SysML.
* Experience of hands-on development of either hardware, software or firmware development, particularly in an embedded environment.
* Technical management experience of a team of system engineers
