Job Description

Seeking a QA Engineer – Working with both front-end web applications and backend analytics services, you will write unit tests, integration tests and functional tests. Focusing on automated testing that runs as part of a CI pipeline, you will develop a test suite that can automatically run on each code commit as part of a DevOps workflow.

When bugs do come up, you will work collaboratively with the development team to correct the issue, and add any tests for edge cases that may not have been covered.

In cases where automated testing has not been built or it is not a priority to do so, there will be elements of manual testing needed to support the development process. However, the focus will always be on building automated testing capabilities wherever possible.

Work in Agile Sprints to test functionality in small batches as it is developed.

Your Responsibilities

* Develop, maintain and improve an automated test suite comprising unit tests, integration tests and functional tests.

* Work collaboratively with the development team to identify bugs, develop fixes, and write regression tests to prevent bugs reoccurring.

* Perform manual testing when automated tests are unavailable to ensure the quality of the codebase.

* Establish and track quality assurance metrics to determine the quality of the codebase.

Your Personal Qualities

* You’ll have the ability to understand the requirements of a software feature from the user’s perspective, and the technical skills to ensure the functionality works through testing.

* You’re an individual who relishes the challenge of working in a tech start-up – you’ll work with diverse technologies and be comfortable testing an existing codebase.

* You will be a resilient and enthusiastic person, comfortable working independently as well as part of a team. You’ll be able to plan and manage well to deliver quality work on time.

* You will be an effective team player who actively develops and supports team members.

The Tech Stack

Tech stack uses Python for backend analytics, modelling the manufacturing domain and to serve our web app using Flask microframework. We have a lightweight front-end styled with Bootstrap and using vanilla HTML/CSS/JavaScript.

We use MongoDB for data persistence and rely on Docker and Linux in both development and production. Our cloud provider of choice is Microsoft Azure and we follow a DevOps workflow using GitHub Actions for CI/CD and trunk-based development for versioning releases.

Our unit testing and integration testing uses Pytest and our front-end functional testing is completed using Selenium
