This role will have the successful candidate working in conjunction with our current DevOps engineer, interfacing between multiple product teams, the operations support team and the systems administration team. The ideal candidate will have sufficient Microsoft product experience and competencies to be adding value to the organisations workstreams very rapidly.
Key ResponsibilitiesWorking with Development teams to automate deployment of products and services into production
·Setup and maintain Azure DevOps environments with applicable modern standards of access controls
·Setting up pipelines and branching strategies for CI/CD
·Creating environments using Infrastructure as Code (IaaS), ensuring that templates and JSON are appropriately commented and are reviewed regularly for compatibility with the changing Azure landscape
Working with Product teams to maintain live systems
·Liaise with architects and customers to create secure and efficient cloud infrastructure solutions
·Work with testers to maintain environments for testing applications in both automated and manual states
·Create appropriate access controls and review steps for code deployment
·Monitor/support applications throughout their lifecycle
·Identify application issues via monitoring before they widely affect application users
·Assist in code and environment handover to support
Collaborate with Operations and Development teams to bring improvements to organisation systems and processes
·Spearhead improvements to processes and procedures as pertaining to Azure
·Collaborate with the Systems Administration team to monitor and improve security controls where applicable
·Work with product owners and their development teams to create detailed documentation when projects are handed over to the operations team
·Involvement in projects at their inception to increase developer productivity and enforce application performance targets and ease handover to production
Skills and Competences
·Analysis, design and estimation (ability to analyse business problems and design suitable technical solutions)
·Agile methodologies (SCRUM)
·Scripting – PowerShell, ARM, YAML, Terraform, Azure Bicep
·Source code control systems – especially GIT
·Cloud experience – 2+ years commercial operations/architecture experience with MS Azure
·Azure DevOps operational and administrative experience,
·GitHub operational and administrative experience,
·Defect and performance monitoring tools and techniques – especially Application Insights and Log analytics.
·Documentation and technical writing experience using tools such as Visio, Adobe, UML,
·Development skills desirable – especially in MS Stack (C#, SQL Server, .NET)
·Desirable Microsoft Azure certifications:
oAzure Administrator Associate
oAzure Solutions Architect Expert
·Beneficial Microsoft Azure certifications:
oAzure Developer Associate
oAzure DevOps Engineer Expert
·Ideally educated to degree level in a relevant subject area.
