Senior IT Engineer – Newbury – £31,000-£33,500

Our client, an "outstanding" Academic Trust in Newbury, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior IT Technician to join their IT team. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and maintaining IT and digital communication infrastructures, including wireless or LAN networks, and ensuring their proper functioning. Reporting only to the Head of IT, the Senior IT Engineer will be supported by two IT Technicians and an IT Apprentice.

Responsibilities:

Install and configure hardware and software systems, including Windows Server Environments, Microsoft Exchange, O365, backups, and Windows 10.
Monitor and maintain network equipment, ensuring it is functioning optimally and promptly identifying and resolving any hardware or software issues.
Implement network security measures to protect against malware and viruses, identify potential areas of threat, and keep up-to-date with evolving cyber threats.
Participate in the design and development of new IT services to meet business requirements.
Maintain the company's phone system, liaising with service providers to ensure the phone lines remain active.
Work collaboratively with other IT team members, delegating tickets to IT Technicians as necessary.Requirements:

Strong troubleshooting skills for hardware and software issues.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Prior experience working with Windows Server Environments, Microsoft Exchange, O365, backups, and Windows 10.
Knowledge of network security measures and the ability to identify potential areas of threat.
Ability to identify necessary improvements to computer systems and implement solutions.
