Senior Software Engineer (Oracle)
Liverpool
£55-65K plus extensive benefits package
must be SC cleared already, happy to work in Liverpool couple of times a week

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join their successful, stable, and growing team.

Due to the secure nature of this work all applicants will be required to hold current UK Security Clearance to at least SC level. You must have been resident in the UK for at least the last 5 years and cannot have been outside the UK for more than 28 days on any one occasion within this time.
To be successful in this role:
You will be a confident and senior Software Engineer or Technical Lead with demonstrable experience in an Oracle support environment, being a pro-active person with software support and development skills. Essential skills for this role include:
A good understanding of software testing principles
Experience of development and/or support of Oracle PL/SQL modules in a large system
Basic knowledge of Oracle Database Administration in a Development or Production role
Exposure to Oracle 10g or later
Knowledge of Oracle Weblogic, Oracle Service Bus or other Application Server technology
In depth knowledge and experience in writing Oracle SQL statements and PL/SQL packages
Exposure to Unix (the target is Sun Solaris, but any flavour of Unix or Linux is acceptable)
Enthusiastic team participation with strong communication and the ability to multitask
Systemic approach to problem solving
Ability to collaborate with global engineering teams
Additional desirable (but not essential) skills for this role include:
Previous use of source control with Subversion (SVN)
Experience of deploying products onto enterprise systems
Awareness of designing and building secure solutions
Certification to ITIL foundation Performance Tuning of SQL and PL/SQL
Advanced PL/SQL techniques (analytical functions, collection handling, bulk processing, objects, LOBs)
Experience of Oracle partitioning
Exposure to Oracle RAC, Oracle RMAN, Oracle Data Guard

Our clients Software Engineers are trusted to work closely with a wide range of clients on exciting projects with real-world purpose and impact. We are looking for an experienced and senior Software Engineer with solid Oracle skills and experience to join a flagship Government programme.
Job role and responsibilities:
The Government Sector team of our client helps employers and organisations to make safer recruitment decisions through various background checks on applicants. This service is critical to ensuring UK Citizens are kept safe. Your role will be working within a service team, helping to solve difficult technical issues and defects, whilst assisting with DevOps tasks such as the maintenance of builds. You will also give input on architectural decisions for features and investigating and resolving issues with legacy code and practices.
As a respected Technical Lead / Senior Software Engineer you will also mentor more junior members, as well as teaching best practice through sharing new knowledge and improvements with other teams.
Please note that whilst some aspects of the role can be undertaken remotely, successful candidate will need to be able to work predominately from offices in Liverpool.
