Job Description

SysOps Engineer
£50,000
Hybrid (Cheltenham)
 
Purpose of the role:
You’ll manage both the private cloud (VMware) and public cloud (AWS Platform) infrastructure to improve service delivery. Configure and fine-tune the cloud infrastructure systems; monitoring and managing cloud services carefully whilst managing costs.

You'll be part of a company providing a unique combination of CX planning, implementation support and managed communications processing to financial services and other regulated markets.
 
Responsibilities:

Managing the complete systems life cycle, along with security, provisioning, and automation.
Performing services such as kernel patching, errata patching, and software upgrades.
Maintaining access control, as well as the integrity of data, throughout the platforms.
Work with the Information Security Manager to ensure security of data, network access and backup systems.
Identify, diagnose, and resolve connection, reliability, or performance issues.
Develop scripts to deliver automation and innovation initiatives, ability to drive automation initiatives independent of automation tools.
Participate in disaster recovery plan and practicing recovery operations.  
Key Skills:

Experience in IT Infrastructure and Operations administration, demonstrating knowledge of:
OS system administration (Windows and Linux)
AWS services.
Virtualization technologies (VMware with VCenter)
Server Network administration (DNS, DHCP, NTP, Active Directory, etc.)
Scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, etc.)
Containerisation (Docker, Fargate, etc)
Experience with or knowledge of backup tools (Veeam preferred).
Hands-on experience creating resource groups, virtual networks, load balancer, virtual machine, attaching storage disks, amongst other Cloud operations.
Solid experience in monitoring, alerting and analytics, proactive maintenance, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting.
Experience with or knowledge of backup & disaster recovery preparedness, monitoring, testing, and activation.
Experience in observability tools.
Experience with IaC (Terraform, Ansible, etc.) is advantageous.
