Job Title: Web Developer
Salary: £28k-£30k per annum depending on experience
Our client based in Brighton is looking to recruit a Web Developer to be responsible for the building and maintenance of their websites, working with colleagues and management across the business to bring their products in line with the company style and fit within existing and evolving processes. Strive to create visually appealing sites that feature intuitive, user-friendly design with a solid backend that ensures their customers' data is safe and the service they provide is reliable.
Plan and present new websites using wireframing and prototyping.
Create website user interfaces by following good HMTL/CSS practices.
Test websites and applications thoroughly in different browsers and environments to ensure they perform correctly in all cases.
Maintain new and existing websites utilising a deep understanding of HTML/CSS, PHP and WordPress CMS.
Work closely with marketing team to ensure customer facing websites present in line with marketing team's vision.
Communicate well with stakeholders in the business to understand their requirements and deliver on them.
Create and maintain documentation of code, website functions and environment requirements.
Follow internal change control processes, ensuring all code is reviewed and approved before being released to the customer, using Git and Bitbucket.
Review colleagues' code and provide constructive feedback.
Stay informed and knowledgeable of industry trends and changes, providing feedback to management on how the company can incorporate these into their products.
Co-operate with IT team to ensure environments required for hosting websites are configured and available.
Show commitment to continual self-improvement to create and maintain websites in a more efficient or higher quality manner.
Work closely with the IT & Development Manager to ensure agreed objectives are being achieved and that project deadlines are being met.
Attend regular stand-ups, team meetings and demonstrations to keep informed of project progress.
Work with other developers in the company, assisting in code reviews and sharing knowledge to create a wider understanding of house developed systems.
Being a customer advocate, both internally and externally who consistently demonstrates 'role model' behaviour
Previous experience or demonstrated ability in web development.
Deep understanding of the following web development technologies: HTML, CSS, PHP and a CMS.
Knowledge of frameworks/libraries, e.g. jQuery, Bootstrap
A good understanding of and ability to use API web services (REST).
A high attention to detail and good problem-solving skills to test and fix code issues quickly.
Demonstrate an ability to optimise code and processes to deliver the best possible service to customers.
A good understanding of how websites work including security, session management and best practices in development.
Good written skills to provide and maintain high quality documentation of code.
Good time management skills with the ability to communicate expected delivery times to stakeholders.
