Job Description

WordPress Developer – PHP 7+ / AWS / HTML5 / SCSS / JQUERY / JAVASCRIPT / REACT / AGILE – Based in Sutton, SM2 5AS

Overview:

The WordPress Squad at LNRS is looking for an experienced, forward thinking WordPress Developer to join our technology team. You will be working for a range of brands that span multiple industries providing customers with innovative technologies, information-based analytics and decision tools and data services. We are part of RELX, a global provider of information and analytics for professional and business customers with offices spanning 24 countries around the world.

We have ambitious plans for growth, and a healthy revenue stream to fund it. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a talented agile team, as we continue to scale up and build compelling online data products using exciting technologies.

We work heavily with WordPress and Amazon Web Services, and this is a full-stack development role. The successful candidate will be comfortable working with minimal supervision to design, develop and implement new custom WordPress plugins, improve existing ones, develop and improve custom WordPress themes and write code to WordPress coding standards. You should have proven experience working on commercial WordPress websites and you must be able to prioritise your work in order to achieve business targets in an Agile Development environment.

You will be comfortable working in a collaborative development team, will have excellent WordPress CMS knowledge and experience in user journey consideration when developing solutions. We are problem solvers and take great pride in supporting and delivering first class websites for our business. The successful candidate will need to hit the ground running, with a proven track record in WordPress website development.

Skills & Requirements:

Essential:

PHP 7+ (OOP) and SQL
Good WordPress development skills (Custom theme development, custom plugin development, CMS configuration, Block Editor)
Excellent HTML 5, SCSS/CSS, Modern ESNext JavaScript and jQuery skills
Experience with custom React.js based Gutenberg Blocks
Familiarity working with version control tools like Git / Gitlab / BitBucket etc.
Familiarity with using browser tools to debug issues
Familiarity with Amazon Web Services or similar
Linux and decent command line knowledge
Nginx or Apache experience
Good knowledge of cross-browser issues
Experience of working on customer facing web applications
Strong interpersonal and stakeholder communication skillsDesirable:

Agile development (Scrum/Lean/Kanban)
Docker / Kubernetes / Helm
WordPress Multisite experience
Jenkins Automation
JIRA
Infrastructure as code
Package management tools like NPM and Composer
Employ build tools like Gulp, Grunt, WebPack, Babel etc.
GitHub process, code review and CI/CD pipeline knowledge
Familiarity of at least one of the following scripting languages: BASH, PerlWomen in technology:
